TRENDING: Marble madness

balenciaga runwayEver since we spied the marble runway at Alexander Wang’s first Balenciaga show, it renewed our love for the speckled stone style.

Derived from the Greek word mármaron meaning ‘crystalline rock, shining stone’, marble has been a long-time favourite of interior designers, but its popularity has significantly increased in recent years. While the natural, organic form will always be favoured, its hefty price tag ensures it remains the luxury of high-end homes, but now thanks to a wide-range of cultured marble products, this marble-like look can be applied to the family home too.

With the increased relationship between fashion and interiors we can safely attribute the Balenciaga show as one reason for the increased marble madness, and it’s everywhere. From lacquering your Macbook with marble contact to installing a complete marble kitchen bench, feature wall and bathroom like Bec Judd’s enviable Calacatta marble home.

There are many different styles from black and white to white with black, whatever you choose, this is one style that won’t date, just look at Rome! Still just as chic 2000 years later.
